It is with deep sadness that we have been informed of the passing of David Murgatroyd, a cherished friend, trustee, and legend who dedicated his life to football.

David, also known as "Murgy," had been a trustee of our charity, the ChorleyFC Community Foundation, since its inception, and his unwavering commitment, humour, and opinions were invaluable in shaping its growth and success. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.

Beyond his role as a trustee, Murgy was an avid supporter and advocate of ChorleyFC, the football club associated with our charity. He was a familiar face at every game, both home and away, working tirelessly behind the scenes to welcome opposing teams and ensuring that the hospitality at Victory Park was exceptional.

Murgy's influence will continue to be felt in the years to come, as his dedication to the Chorley FC Soccer Schools and his support of our Sporting Memories project has helped both initiatives thrive over the years.We are grateful to have had the privilege of working alongside Murgy, who was truly one of a kind.

His selflessness and passion for making the world a better place will never be forgotten. In his memory, we will continue the work he was so passionate about, and strive to make a positive impact in our community.

Thank you Murgy, for everything you did. While you will be deeply missed, your legacy will live on in the Chorley community for many generations to come.
